We’ve got interesting events being planned for the semester. We’ve even got one prepared for freshers week:

In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises are most sublime and exalted.

Come and join us for the Birmingham Uni Sikh Soc Kirtan Darbar on Campus. Kirtanias such as Bhaji Sukhwinder Singh and Bhaji Manvir Singh will be attending.

Place: Chaplaincy

Date: Wednesday 24^th September

Time: 2 – 5pm

And there’ll be food afterwards

The culmination of the bitesize sikhi weeks – get all your burning questions answered. There’s no chance to embarrass yourself. All questions will be given anonymously to the panel. We’ve called some favours in, and we’ve got an old skool panel who have been around the Sikh Soc’s circuit for the last decade.

Sikh Community & Youth Services UK

Sikh Community & Youth Service UK: The Sikh Community & Youth Service (based at 348, Soho Road in Handsworth, B'ham, B21 9QL) are looking for part-time workers to help with their new projects in counselling and advocacy. SCYS (UK) has been running as a charity since 1976. There will be training, and both voluntary and work are available. They've said students would be ideal in this new area of work in the community. The ability to speak both Punjabi and English would be useful. Humility, courage and open-mindedness will be necessary as the job involves working with vulnerable members of our society.

As society members, there may be some of you hoping to work in Social Care and Health. Or you may study other subject areas, but still want to work with vulnerable people as part of your seva. Either way, if anyone is interested, please don't hesitate to contact the SCYS: 0121 523 0147.
